Same board, different moves
Every pizza campaign in the category runs the same play: a price, a cheese pull, or a limited-time offer. Pizza King was competing within that same sameness, where nothing on the menu or in the marketing gave anyone a reason to look twice.
The King’s move
The idea came out of our ongoing consultancy work with Pizza King. Chess was the idea, it’s a game defined entirely by what each piece is and isn’t allowed to do—rules nobody questions because they’ve never been broken. Nashville flavor had its own version of that rule: it lived in sandwiches and bites, never on a pizza, as if the category had quietly agreed where it was and wasn’t allowed to go. So Pizza King played the King’s move—the one piece on the board that answers to nothing. The idea only needed a line to introduce it. "الكينج غير القواعد": The King changed the rules.

Putting it on the menu
What we built was simple: two pizzas, Nashville Chicken and Nashville Shrimp, putting the flavor exactly where the category had agreed it didn’t belong. Nashville Chicken and Nashville Shrimp went on to become Pizza King’s best-selling items on the menu—the flavor people once only expected in a sandwich is now what they’re ordering pizza for.
